The Gallery was inaugurated in 1931, and groups a core of works between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries divided into twenty rooms. The "Portrait of a Lady" by Klimt stolen from the gallery on February 22, 1997 and found on December 10, 2019 is part of the 1900 collection. The Alberoni Gallery in Piacenza is worth a visit for Antonello's Hecce Homo or Cristo alla Colonna (1473) from Messina.
